A Dying Colby Curtin Gets Her Final Wish to See the Still-to-be-Released DVD Version of the Disney-Pixar Movie 'Up'

Ten-year old Colby Curtin got her final wish.  While on her death bed because of vascular cancer, Colby Curtin 'saw' a private screening of the still-to-be-released DVD version of Disney-Pixar movie, 'Up.'  A copy of the movie's DVD was delivered by a Pixar employee to the Curtin home in California.

There, with Colby unable to open her eyes, her mother did the viewing for her relaying to the dying Colby a description of the scenes in the movie. When asked by her mother whether she enjoyed, the movie, Colby nodded in approval.  Colby would die seven hours after fulfilling her last wish.

The Orange County Register quoted Colby's mother, Lisa, as saying, "When I watched it, I had really no idea about the content of the theme of the movie.  I just know that word 'Up' and all of the balloons and I swear to you, for me it meant that (Colby) was going to go up.  Up to heaven."

'Up' is the story of a grumpy old man named Carl who, after his wife Ellie's death, tries to fulfill alone their dream of visiting Paradise Falls in South America by tying his house to thousands of balloons and drifting away. Before he could get very far, he is joined in his adventure by a kid named Russell.

Colby saw previews of the movie last April and from then on, it had always been her wish to see the movie.

Here are the 'Up' trailers that Colby Curtin most probably saw:
