20 July 2009

Businessman Arnel David was wounded while his driver Nixon Bernas was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in an attempted robbery early this morning in Kaybiga, Caloocan City. According to the 24 Oras report, David was driving his blue Isuzu pickup with Bernas after depositing money at the BDO branch in Gen. Luis St., Kaybiga, Caloocan City when their vehicle was blocked by the gunmen.  David was about to draw his wallet from his back pocket when the robbers opened fire on him and on Bernas.

The two gunmen fled the scene aboard a red motorcycle driven by a third companion.

The victims were rushed to the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where Bernas expired.  David, who reportedly sustained two gunshot wounds on his left thigh, was later transferred to the Valenzuela General Hospital.
