Italian Red Cross staffer Eugenio Vagni, held captive by the Abu Sayyaf for nearly six months, was finally freed by his captors early Sunday morning. Vagni was released in the area of Lagasan Asibin in Maimbung at 12:45am and he arrived in Jolo at 1:10am. Vagni was abducted by the Abu Sayyaf on January 15 together with fellow ICRC workers Mary Jean Lacaba and Swiss Andreas Notter. Lacaba was the first one to be released on April 2 followed by Notter on April 18.
