Ping Lacson Challenges Erap to Drop 2010 Presidential Bid and Give Way to Noynoy Aquino — Erap Says "You Have No Right to Lecture Me!"

3 September 2009

"Kung talagang ganun ang intensyon niya, mauna siya!  Hindi yung, 'O mauna kayo, 'pag ako na lang ang naiwanan, sasama na rin ako sa inyo.'  Hindi 'yon ang mark ng isang lider." With those words, Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson threw a hard challenge to former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada to prove his sincerity in his stated desire to help unite the opposition by dropping his own presidential ambition in 2010 and give way to Senator Noynoy Aquino.

Ping characterized as "segurista" the stance taken by Erap."

Erap's retort came by way of his spokesperson Margaux Salcedo who said Ping has no right to lecture Erap after causing the opposition's disunity in 2004.  It will be recalled that Ping ran a separate 2004 campaign instead of supporting the strongest opposition contender, the late FPJ.
