DOj Files Murder Charges Against Atty. Manuel Jimenez, Jr., Lope Jimenez, 4 Others in Navotas RTC, Clears Ruby Rose Husband Thirdy — August 24, 2009

The DOJ investigating panel in the Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez case recommended the filing of murder charges against businessman Lope Jimenez, Atty. Manuel Jimenez, Jr., Eric Fernandez, Lennard "Spyke" Descalso and Roberto "Obet" Ponce. 

Star witness Manuel Montero was also impleaded but that is a necessary step prior to having him discharged as an accused and turned into a state witness.  The case was filed before the Navotas Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Cleared by the DOJ was Manuel Jimenez III or Thirdy, Ruby Rose's estranged husband and another accused, Rudy dela Cruz, for lack of probable cause.

Atty. Mario Aguinaldo, lawyer for the Jimenez family expressed his clients' readiness to face the murder charges against them.

With the filing of the murder charges, the case will now move into the trial stage, the presentation of the prosecution's evidence and after that, the defense and evidence for the accused.

Rochelle Barrameda Balks at Jimenez Family's Request for Reautopsy on Ruby Rose Barrameda

Rochelle Barrameda, older sister of slain mother of two Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez, is balking at the request of the Jimenez family to have her sister's body exhumed for reautopsy by forensic pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun.

The request was made by the Jimenez family through their lawyer Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, in today's continuation of the preliminary investigation at the DOJ.  Atty. Topacio raised the possibility that the body buried by the Barrameda family was not that of Ruby Rose.  

Today's hearing was the first time that the Barrameda and Jimenez families faced off since this horrifyingly-brutal case rocked the nation more than a month ago on June 10 when Ruby Rose's body was found inside a cemented drum on a tip by star witness Manuel Montero.

Judge Gloria Aglugub Says She Received Death Threats After Denying Barrameda Famiy's Motion for Ruby Rose's Children to Visit their Mother's Wake

Judge Gloria Aglugub of Las Piñas admits receiving hate calls and death threats the day after she decided to deny the motion filed by the Barrameda family asking that Ruby Rose's daughters be allowed to visit their mother's wake.  The lady judge claims she is ready to face any administrative case that Rochelle Barrameda is saying the Barrameda family will file against her in view of her controversial decision in the child custody battle between Ruby Rose and husband Manuel Jimenez III.

Manuel Montero Tags Third in the Murder of Ruby Rose — Says Manuel Jimenez III Promised Spike Discalzo a Bonus Because "Ayos Na ang Problema Niya"

Manuel Montero, in a supplemental affidavit submitted early this afternoon to the DOJ panel probing the murder of the Ruby Rose Barrameda, has implicated Third, the nickname of Ruby Rose's estranged husband, Manuel Jimenez III, in the brutal slay.

He did this by relating a brief conversation with one of the suspects Spike Discalzo wherein he asked the latter whom he was talking with on the cellphone and Spike allegedly said: "... bibigyan daw ako ng bonus ni Third dahil ayos na ang problema niya."

Ruby Rose Barrameda Murder Witness Manuel Montero Surfaces in Preliminary Hearing at the DOJ, Says Lope Jimenez Wanted Ruby Rose Raped, June 26, 2009

The man who revived the Ruby Rose Barrameda case by leading police authorities to the location of the body of the slain mother of two surfaced in today's preliminary investigation of the sensational murder case.  

Witness Manuel Montero, sporting long hair and wearing a cap, white polo shirt and maong pants, the bespectacled star witness subscribed to his affidavit before the DOJ panel. 

The suspects in this case were not present during the hearing but Atty. Mario Aguinaldo, lawyer of Atty. Manuel Jimenez II, asked for 20 days to submit their counter-affidavit to the DOJ.  The next hearing of the case is set for July 13.

In TV Patrol a few minutes ago, Manuel Montero reportedly alleged in his supplemental affidavit that suspect Lope Jimenez wanted Ruby Rose Barrameda to be raped but that he (Montero) intervened thus sparing the victim from a worse fate. This allegation further enraged Rochelle Barrameda considering the monumentally brutal murder of her younger sister.

Ruby Rose Barrameda Laid to Rest Without Reuniting with Her Daughters — After the Grieving Begins the All-Out Quest for Justice for Ruby Rose

A grieving Barrameda family joined by hundreds of relatives, friends and a commiserating public gave Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez a final farewell as the slain young mother of two was laid to rest at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City.

Ruby Rose was buried without the reunion wished for by her family with her two daughters. Her older daughter, Marga Ysabel, preferred not to visit her mother's wake even after she was interviewed by Steve Dailisan of GMA News.

Steve Dailisan of GMA 7 Talked with Ruby Rose's Older Daughter Marga Ysabel But Still She Wouldn't Visit Her Mother's Wake

Steve Dailisan of GMA 7 had an exclusive one-on-one with the older daughter of Ruby Rose Barrameda but in the end, she still would not go to her mother's wake.  

According to Steve Dailisan, "Para raw hindi na mabahiran ng anumang pagdududa, kusang ipinakita ni Manuel Jimenez III ang kanilang dalawang anak nila ni Ruby Rose.  Nauna na kasing ipinaabot ng mga Jimenez ang umano'y desisyon ng kanilang panganay na hindi na dumalo sa burol ng ina 

Nakausap namin ang bata, siyam na taon lang gulang lang siya pero animo'y may isip na kung magsalita.  Kwento niya sa amin, gusto daw niya ng tahimik na buhay. Mas gusto rin daw niyang pagtuunan ng pansin ang kanyang pag-aaral ngayon. Pero aminado rin siyang nami-miss niya paminsan-minsan ang ina. Gayunman masaya raw siya sa piling ng kanyang ama na siyang nag-aalaga sa kanila. Umapela rin ang bata na sana huwag na silang mapagpiyestahan ng media. Sabi ng ama ng mga bata, iniiwan niya nang buong-buo ang pagpapasya sa mga bata."

It now appears that Ruby Rose Barrameda will be laid to rest without being reunited with her two young daughters.  But Ruby Rose's vindication will come and her reunion with her children will happen — all in God's perfect time.

In the meantime, the entire Filipino nation will have to pursue one overriding concern — Justice for Ruby Rose Barrameda and her children!

In today's One-on-One with Igan on Unang Hirit, Atty. Mario Aguinaldo, lawyer of the Jimenez family recounts how Marga Ysabel, the older of two daughters of slain Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez reacted when asked if she wants to go the wake of her mom.  

Reference was made in this interview to the intercession made by Gabriela party-list representative Liza Maza who talked with Atty. Aguinaldo to ask the Jimenez family to allow the children to see their mother for one last time.

This is a portion of the interview between Igan Arnold Clavio and Atty. Aguinaldo:

Atty. Aguinaldo: ... Tumawag siya sa 'kin nung Sabado ... nakikiusap. So sabi ko sa kaniya, di kakausapin ko yung pamilya.  Kinausap ko yung pamilya.  Nung Sabado nga, nang gabi, kinausap nung father ulit, nung lolo yung panganay sinabi na ... tinanong kung ayaw niyang pumunta o gusto niyang pumunta, sabi nung bata, 'Ayoko po!  'Eh ba't ba ayaw mo?  Ang sagot nung bata, ''Eh bakit n'yo po ba 'ko pinipilit? Ginugulo n'yong buhay ko.  Eh kung buhay n'yo pong guluhin ko?!'  'yan ang sagot nung bata. Ngayon sabi ko ...

Igan:  Attorney, attorney, maputol ko po kayo.  Ilang taon na po itong panganay?

Atty. Aguinaldo:  Siguro, grade 4 eh. Siguro mga 9 na 'yan.

Igan:  Ah, Ok.

Atty:  Oo.

Atty. Aguinaldo:  Ngayon, nireport ko kay kwan 'yan, sinabi ko kay Congresswoman na talaga namang tumutulong na makapunta rin yung mga bata, ano. Ngayon, sabi ko kay Congresswoman, eh di baka po sabihin n'yo na akong ... sa 'kin nanggaling, biased ako, mabuti po pakausap natin sa guidance counselor o kaya na mismo kumausap. Ang napagkaisahan namin, pakakausap namin sa guidance counsellor ng La Salle, De La Salle Zobel. So kahapon, nagpunta ko sa Dela Salle Zobel, kinausap ko yung Principal na nagkataon naman yung principal just promoted to be a Principal for less than a year or about one year.  Nasubaybayan niya 'tong bata kaya may trust and confidence sa kaniya yung bata. So kahapon kinausap nung Principal at nung guidance counsellor ng De la Salle Zobel yung bata. Tinanong siya kung gusto niyang pumunta, ang sabi niya, 'Ayoko po.'

Igan:  Ah ...

Atty. Aguinaldo:  Yung ang sabi.  Nirelay ko rin kay ano 'yun kay Congresswoman Maza.

Igan:  So talagang hindi na ho makikita nitong panganay?

 

Atty. Aguinaldo: Ayaw niya, eh. Ayaw nung bata. Ayaw nung bata. Hindi ko lang masabi ngayon sa himpapawid kung bakit ayaw nung bata.  Palagay ko malalim ang ano.  Ayokong magsalita kung bakit.

Igan:  May kaugnayan pa rin sa mga naunang kaso, Attorney?

Atty. Aguinaldo: Maaari pero ayoko ngang magsalita dahil I want to respect the dead.

This is QTV's News on Q report by Sandra Aguinaldo on the last days of Ruby Rose Barrameda. The persons appearing in the report are Robert Barrameda, Ruby Rose's father, Rochelle Barrameda, Ruby Rose's sister,  Superintendent Leo Francisco, police investigator handling the case and somebody identified as "Annie," godmother of Ruby Rose's younger child.

Ivan Mayrina: Even with the discovery of Ruby Rose Barrameda's body two days ago, where and how she disappeared on March 14, 2007 remain unanswered.  Investigators are now looking for clues on the last days that she was seen alive. Sandra Aguinaldo retraces Ruby Rose's last steps.  

Sandra:  On March 14, 2007, Ruby Rose left her parents' house in Moonwalk, Paranaque's saying she would just go to the bank before visiting her two kids living with her estranged husband and in-laws in Executive Village in Las Piñas. It was the last time Ruby Rose was seen alive.

Robert: Nagpaalam munang mag-aano siya sa bangko, pagkagaling niya sa bangko makapagdeposit, tutuloy na siya dun sa anak niya bibisitahin. Nalaman namin dito sa nag-surrender, nung araw na kinuha si Ruby dun sa bahay ng biyenan niya, dinala sa Navotas, nung bandang maggagabi na, dun na siya pinatay.

Sandra:  Ruby Rose's sister Rochelle, believes her disappearance has something to do with the dismissal of the temporary protection order she filed against her ex-husband.

Rochelle:  Dinismis yon. yung kanyang temporary protection order. Nung araw na nadismiss 'yon, nareceive ni Ruby Rose yung letter from the court, dun siya nawala, March 14.  So alam mong planado, kasi kung hindi nadismiss 'yon, automatic sila ang pwedeng gumawa nun.

Sandra:  Police investigators are still trying to find out where exactly Ruby Rose was taken.

Leo:  So nagba-backtracking ang aming investigation at  siguro darating din tayo dun kung ano talaga yung naging ... nangyari nung panahong siya nawala.

Sandra:  Manuel Jimenez III, Ruby Rose's ex-husband, told GMA News that Ruby Rose did not visit his house in Las Pinas that day.  He also belied accusations that Ruby Rose was restricted from visiting their children adding that she was able to visit them two days before she disappeared.  Ruby Rose used to frequent this gym in Alabang two months before her death. Some of her gym buddies as well as her youngest child's godmother, who asked that her identity be withheld for her protection, still recall how depressed Ruby was when she was separated from her children.

Annie: Kasi nung time na 'yon na medyo sad siya nami-miss niya yung kids niya. Although nakakabisita naman siya sa mga kids niya, pero ... since lumipat na siya ulit sa bahay ng parents niya, may mga times na mag-isa lang siya, tapos nalulungkot siya, nabo-bore nagpo-forward siya ng mga text, nire-replyan ko naman.

This is the latest development with respect to efforts to hunt down or charge the persons possibly involved in the Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez murder tragedy.  

Chino Gaston reports that the PNP is set to file murder charges against seven (7) persons suspected of being murder perpetrators, including Ruby Rose's father-in-law, Atty. Manuel Jimenez II.  The other suspects are Lope Jimenez, Ruby Rose's brother-in-law, Eric Fernandez, Pyke Discalzo, Robert Ponce and Rudy Dela Cruz.  The seventh person is the witness himself who helped locate Ruby Rose's body, a certain Manuel Montero.

The younger sister of former beauty queen Rochelle Barrameda, Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez, has been found dead in Navotas after two years of searching.  

In a gruesome turn of events, Ruby Rose's body was found inside a concrete-filled steel drum that was dumped in Manila Bay.

Rochelle Barrameda said that her Ruby Rose was identified by her brother from the clothes the victim in the drum was wearing.   Ruby Rose was first reported missing on March 14, 2007. The Barrameda family  suspects that Ruby Rose's husband had something to do with the incident.

Igan Arnold Clavio's one-on-one interview with Rochelle Barrameda is nothing short of wrenching.  She described Ruby Rose's body as handcuffed, strangled, covered with plastic over her head.  "Gruesome" is a word that falls way short of what happened to poor Ruby Rose Barrameda.

We expect our nation, the PNP and our investigative agencies and our Senators to spend some time away from the Hayden Kho sex video scandal and into searching for the killer or killers and towards giving justice to Ruby Rose Barrameda-Jimenez and her family.
