Francis Magalona lives! For his groundbreaking contribution to Filipino music and Filipino culture as well as the inspiration he gave to legions of fans in promoting Filipino pride, dignity and honor, Francis Magalona should be posthumously proclaimed as National Artist for Music.
His Happy Battle may seem to have ended (FrancisM's Happy Battle) but it has in fact only began. Millions of Filipinos whose lives he touched by the way he lived his life, loved his family, cared for others and promoted Filipino pride will continue that happy battle, facing life and all its challenges with renewed hope and optimism because of Francis M's valiant, shining example.
The torrent of messages that poured into his blog is only the beginning of the accolades that will come the way of this urban patriot. Indeed, the measure of a nation's greatness is reckoned by the character of the heroes that we honor and the strength of our commitment in emulating their example.
Francis Magalona has passed from earthly life to immortality.
