We Join GMA News in a Salute to the DepEd's Mobile Teachers

The DepEd does have many people it can be proud of.  Among them are the DepEd's mobile teachers.

GMA News pays tribute to these unsung heroes of the DepEd in this special report by Rhea Santos wherein she joins Catalina Ibarra at a typical day in a mobile teacher's life: 


If the DepEd's higher-ranking officials approach their jobs with the same devotion to public service as these mobile teachers, then the DepEd would not have been associated with a number of scandals over the years.

June 21, 2009 — 428 H1N1 Confirmed Cases in the Philippines — Classes Suspended in Adamson Up to June 24, in Karangalan Elementary School Up to July 1

The number of confirmed H1N1 cases in the Philippines has climbed to 428 with the addition of 36 new cases from yesterday's tally of 392.

Adamson University announced the suspension of classes up to June 24, 2009 after recording its first instance of H1N1 infection. 

In Karangalan Elementary School in Cainta, Rizal, classes will be suspended for ten (10) days starting tomorrow, June 22.  That means students there will return to their classes on July 2. This development came after two students tested positive for H1N1 in the said school.

Rizalistas and Kabataan Party List Celebrate 148th Birth Anniversary of Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal

Today is the 148th birth anniversary of the Philippines' national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, who was born on June 19, 1861 in Calamba, Laguna. 

The event was marked by wreath-laying ceremonies in Rizal Park by the Kabataan party list and the Rizalistas. Celebrations were also held at the Rizal Shrine in Calamba, Laguna,  across the country and around the world especially in places where there are big Filipino communities or where there are chapters of the Knights of Rizal.

In his report, John Consulta showed how some 500 Rizalistas not only offered flowers at the Rizal Monument but also staged their version of a mass in honor of the national hero.
