Well-Loved Talent Manager Douglas Quijano, Mr. Amity, Found Dead in His House in Lucban, Quezon

One of the Philippine showbiz industry's most-loved personalities, Douglas Quijano, is dead. He is 64.  Quijano was found dead on his bed in his house in Lucban, Quezon around 10am today.  The industry is set to mourn Tito Dougs' unexpected passing.  It was suspected that he died of heart attack.  Lucy Torres-Gomez said that Tito Dougs was a diabetic. 

I learned about it watching StarTalk this afternoon from the conversation and reminiscing of Butch Francisco, Ricky Lo, Lolit Solis and Joey De Leon.  

Lolit paid tribute to her mentor Douglas Quijano, saying she owes him a lot and that he was the person who got Lolit Solis into showbusiness.  

Lolit related how people called Douglas as Mr. Amity — saying that if you get into a quarrel with Douglas, it is most surely your fault — while she (Lolit) is called Miss Amityville.  "Horror" added Joey De Leon.

Lolit Solis Dares Hayden Kho Camp — "Dine-dare ko Sila, Bakit Hindi Nila Ilabas Yung Buong Tape ... Wala Naman Akong Itinatago!"

Talent manager and talk show host Lolit Solis yesterday dared those responsible for circulating the audiotape of her May 21 meeting with several people which reportedly included Dr. Hayden Kho, Mrs. Irene Kho, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, two of her law associates as well as PR man Reli German, on May 21 to release the entire audiotape instead of simply circulating what she referred to as a "spliced" version. 

The challenge was made by Lolit Solis in this article on philstar.com as well as in yesterday's Startalk TV show in GMA 7.  In making her challenge, Solis says she has nothing to hide.  Asked what she thought the motive was behind the act of circulating the tape, Solis said that the apparent motive was to destroy her credibility. "Para sirain yung credibility ko ... kasi may demolition job, eh."

Atty. Lorna Kapunan, meanwhile, flatly denied that the lawyers were behind the circulation of the tape saying that the would be a violation of their oath of lawyer-client privilege.  

After admitting that her associates made a recording of the meeting in order to assist themseves in preparing the affidavit for Dr. Hayden Kho, Atty. Lorna Kapunan should have volunteered to conduct her own investigation as to who was responsible for the tape leakage and to make public her findings.  

If you have in your possession and safekeeping some sensitive, confidential material and that material or part of it subsequently becomes public knowledge, wouldn't it indicate, at the very least, negligence on your part?

Senator Bong Revilla Promises Results in the Senate's Investigation into the Hayden Kho-Katrina Halili Sex Videos Scandal

Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr. has promised that the Senate investigation into the Hayden Kho sex videos controversy will yield concrete results.

The Senator from Cavite whose privilege speech on May 19 triggered the series of investigations and heightened public interest in the controversy gave this definite assurance in an exclusive Startalk interview this afternoon with Ricky Lo and Lolit Solis.

Senator Revilla said that the case against Dr. Hayden Kho has been positively established and that the inquiry now needs to focus on who uploaded the sex videos and on the "big fish" drug supplier alluded to by Senator Madrigal and whom Hayden Kho refused to name during Thursday's Senate hearing for fear of his life and that of his family.

Lolit Solis Reacts, Part 2, to Mrs. Irene Kho — She Alleges, "Umutang Mga Magulang Ni Hayden Kay Vicki Belo ng P4Million ... Hindi Pa Bayad"

Talent manager Lolit Solis continues her reactions to accusations by Mrs. Irene Kho.  

This time around, Solis alleges that Hayden Kho's parents obtained a P4 million loan from Dr. Vicki Belo and that said loan is still unpaid. She made the allegations in an interview with Mario Dumaual of ABS-CBN.  Excerpts:

"Nung bago pa relasyon ni Hayden tsaka ni Vicki Belo, umutang yung mga magulang ni Hayden ng P4million ... meron yata silang eatery dun sa Marikina, medyo nalulugi ... whatever (Mario Dumaual, asks, 'Bayad na ba?") Maku I'm sure hindi pa ... dahil kung bayad na yon malalaman ko rin ... di ba?  O, kaya nga nagkaroon na ko ng malisya nung biglang lumabas yung isyu tungkol sa tape ... na 4 million ... Nagbalik ano yung utak ko. Teka di ba 4 million yung inutang kay Vicki noon?  Ngayon, 4 million na naman? Bakit parang ang hilig sa number na 4?  

Hindi lang beholden. ang ibig kong sabihin,  Nakikinabang sila ng malaki kay Dra. Vicki Belo ... bakit hindi man lang matanong nung nanay si Hayden kung paano niya naa-afford yung mga trips, kung paano niya naaafford tumira sa Pacific Plaza ... sa The Fort ... kung paano niya naa-afford yung mga kotseng dati nyang ginagamit, yung Porsche dati, di ba? tapos ngayon bago niyang kotse... Pa'no niya 'yon na-afford?  Di ba pag nanay ka, kaya ba 'to ng suweldo ng anak ko.

Hayden Kho - Katrina Halili Video Scandal — The Senate Hearing Should Not Be in Executive Session

Hayden Kho's desire to hold the Senate hearing tomorrow in executive session goes against the public interest. Senator Jamby Madrigal is correct in wanting the hearing to be as public as possible.

The immense significance of tomorrow's hearing cannot be understated. After foisting this scandal on a Filipino public which has grown tired of investigations that lead nowhere and yield no significant change in society, the Senate should now make sure that a judicious balance between the people's right to know and the right to privacy of the individuals who will testify in the hearing is attained.

After showing immense interest in the controversy, the Filipino public now expects that they will be treated as mature members of our society whose guidance and decision is not sought only during election time but in critical moments like this where public sensibility will be seriously offended if they will be shut out of information over an issue that will surely affect the future direction of this country.

An interesting sidelight of tomorrow's hearing will be how Senators Jamby Madrigal and Alan Peter Cayetano will conduct themselves since these will be a joint hearing conducted by their respective committees.  The public spat between these two senators is public knowledge since Senator Madrigal filed a complaint over the C-5  double insertion controversy against Senator Manny Villar who is being vigorously defended by Senator Cayetano.

My head is still spinning from all the charges and counter-charges that are flying in all directions as a result of the brewing Hayden Kho sex videos scandal.

In this GMA-7 exclusive, Igan Arnold Clavio interviews Manay Lolit Solis by telephone on the issue.  Lolit Solis, who is not known for holding back when engaged in controversies is still her usual bubbly self but I can see that she's quite composed and relaxed (by Lolit Solis standards, I mean) when tackling the issues.

Lolit Solis did make this statement at one point in the interview:

"Kung talagang sabi niya ... binibigyan ng drugs ni Katrina 'yung anak niya na isang doktor, aba, eh hindi na nga ako nagtataka Arnold na nabalita noon na may namatay na pasyente sa kamay ni Dr. Hayden," said Lolit Solis.

"Habang nagla-lipo?" asked Igan Arnold Clavio.

"Oo," Di ba, eh kung nagdo-droga siya, ganu'n nga ang mangyayari," added Lolit Solis.

Regarding the alleged patient's death mentioned by Lolit Solis, so as to present this in a balanced light, here's a PEP article dated May 23, 2008 entitled Dr. Hayden Kho disputes rumor about patient's death. 

Said article made reference to a May 6, 2008 blog post entitled "Reviving Rumors (re-written) written by Hayden himself in his Multiply account, Hayden's Haven, wherein the now embattled doctor is quoted as saying:

They finally had an autopsy done and it cemented the fact that her death is indeed unrelated to surgery. The Philippine Medical Association had also investigated the case and released a statement.  The demise is due to Status Asthmaticus, and not related to surgery.

With that, my name has been cleared and the family finally quit blaming me and the other doctors who handled the patient's case.

Mrs. Irene Kho, Hayden Kho's mom, has come out in public expressing her anger over the brewing sex video scandal involving her son and several women including actress Katrina Halili.

These are the notes I took of her comments and allegations, addressed to Senator Bong Revilla, talent manager Lolit Solis and actress Katrina Halili, as aired over ABS-CBN's TV Patrol and just a few minutes ago, at Bandila.
