Jun Lozada Goes Back Home to His Family at La Salle Greenhills Under Senate Custody

THE JUN LOZADA WATCH

9 May 2009

ZTE-NBN scandal star witness Jun Lozada is now safely back with his family at La Salle Greenhills far removed from the detention quarter, prison cell and hospital room that was the fare of his life since he was arrested last April 29 on perjury charges filed against him by defeated administration senatorial candidate Mike Defensor.

According to Sr. Mary John Mananzan, Lozada left the Medical Center Manila at 11:00 am yesterday.  He is now staying at La Salle Greenhills under recognizance of the Senate which successfully regained custody over him after the motion to that effect was granted by Judge Loredo of the Manila MTC during the arraignment of the perjury case last Thursday, May 7.

VINDICATION! — "My decision to protest the abuses ... by this government by refusing to post bail has now yielded victory" — Jun Lozada, May 7, 2009

THE JUN LOZADA WATCH

7 May 2009 11:16pm

Earlier tonight, I had the opportunity to visit Jun Lozada at the Medical Center Manila where he's still gradually recuperating after suffering from low blood pressure and dehydration the past few days.

I was in his room for, I guess, nearly thirty minutes.

Before I left, I requested Jun to give his message to our people and despite his condition (with dextrose needle still embedded in his left hand), he happily obliged. He wrote the message on a regular size bond paper; it's actually a printout of my latest post, The Senate Resolution that Won Back Custody Over Jun Lozada, SRN-1049 (Adopted Resolution No. 172), Filed by Senator Mar Roxas, before coming over to Medical Center Manila.  As he began to write his message on the right-hand margin of the page, I took some pictures of Jun Lozada; it felt as if I had encountered a man who personified the best in both our national heroes, Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio, all at once.  Here was a man who has courage, intelligence, love of country and fellowmen, humility and faith in abundant measure.

This is the text of Jun's message which he wrote in Tagalog (Pilipino) from his hospital bed:

Jun Lozada

Here is my translation in English:

For the Filipino People,

I am glad to communicate with you through this letter. Thank you for your continued support in my fight for truth and justice.

This day is an important one for our struggle.  My decision to protest the abuses against me by this government by refusing to post bail has now yielded victory.

We are going to face more trials ahead and I'm renewing my appeal for you to continue praying so that our Lord will guide us once again.

Jun Lozada

I would like to commend here the Senate security detail that was guarding Jun Lozada.  For obvious reasons, I did not take pictures of them or of their deployment. I can only say that they're all polite and did not appear menacing. I had a pleasant conversation with some of them while waiting for my turn to be led inside Jun's room.

Theirs could be one of the most important jobs in the world right now.  With custody over Jun Lozada wrestled away from the police through the petition for recognizance filed by the Senate, they are holding with them literally a national treasure.

Even closer to Jun is his "close-in security detail" led by Sr. Mary John Mananzan and her army of sisters who have been with Jun since the beginning of his ordeal.

And to those of us who believe that Jun Lozada is divinely protected, there is a third force of powerful unseen beings we call angels who keep watch over him.

And yes, if this formidable security is not enough, we have our God who never sleeps nor slumbers. Nothing happens without His permission. As long as He wills it, Jun Lozada cannot be touched.  And that's where our prayers, our praise and our intercession come in.

To God be the glory!

Author's Note:  8 May 2009, 2:30am
My scanner is still down and my camera would not communicate with my PC for me to transfer the picture of the piece of bond paper that bears Jun's message. I'll upload it as soon as I can. Thank you for bearing with me.

Jun Lozada Fights a Gallant Battle on Two Fronts — Now Hooked to Oxygen and Dextrose as His Medical Condition Worsens

6 May 2009

Jun Lozada is fighting not only a legal battle that has placed him in jail, he's also fighting a medical battle that has now landed him in the hospital.  Lozada was arrested on April 29 as a result of perjury charges filed against him by defeated administration senatorial candidate Mike Defensor.

The star witness of the ZTE-NBN broadband scandal which rocked the Philippines more than a year ago is now confined at Room 8837 of the Medical Center Manila along UN Avenue.

You will recall that early yesterday morning, a lady doctor rushed to Lozada while he was still in jail after the latter's blood pressure dropped.  The doctor confirmed that Lozada is "anemic" and that detention has further deteriorated his health.  She ordered blood tests to be taken. It was hours after this that Lozada again complained of difficulty of breathing which prompted police authorities to summon two doctors who immediately recommended Lozada's admission to the hospital.

More on Lozada's medical condition in this report from GMAnews.tv.  This is the video clip likewise from GMAnews.tv:

If top whistleblower Jun Lozada loses his battle without this nation standing up to be heard and protesting, this country is really washed down the drain.

Pinoy, nakalimutan mo na ba kung paano iwinagayway ni Manny Pacquiao ang bandilang Pilipino sa Las Vegas?  Suportahan natin si Jun Lozada upang lumabas ang katotohanan!

Let's continue praying that God sustains Jun Lozada his wife Violet and kids as he fights for the toughest battle of his life.

Jun Lozada Arrested for Perjury, Promises Not to Post Bail

29 April 2009

ZTE-NBN broadband scandal star witness Jun Lozada is now in jail after being arrested for charges of perjury filed by defeated senatorial candidate Mike Defensor.

In a dramatic turn of events, Lozada who a year ago stunned the nation by accusing personalities closely-linked with Malacañang with kidnapping him, is now the one facing a prison term. Leaders of Philippine civil society like singer Leah Navarro and Enteng Romano of the Black and White Movement were shown on TV asking people to support Jun Lozada.

Whoever thought of this "arrest Jun Lozada" stunt is not doing PGMA a favor.  With Lozada in jail and not posting bail, the spotlight will focus on him again and civil society will now have a converging point to forge unity that was lost several months ago.

Here are video clips of Jun Lozada's arrest courtesy of gmanews.tv:

Next time you know, this government will be scrambling to get Jun Lozada out of jail because of the public outrage that his arrest will create.

Let's pray for Jun Lozada and his family and for the truth to now finally prevail. Let's visit him in jail as soon as we can and tell him that we appreciate the sacrifices he's been willing to bear for our country and people.

God can send angels to spring Jun Lozada out of jail as he did for the Apostle Peter more than two thousand years ago.  But I guess He won't be doing that now.  I believe He wants to see a conscience-stricken, God-fearing nation rise up and say, "Enough of injustice, corruption and abuse!"

Then, Jun Lozada will have his freedom once again and this fair land will have justice and fairness restored in its midst.

Mabuhay si Jun Lozada!  Mabuhay ang Pinoy!

To God be the glory!
