I'm watching DZMM Teleradyo and they're saying that classes are suspended at the preschool, elementary and high school levels today, Friday, July 17, 2009 in Metro Manila.

Kausap kanina lang ni Igan Arnold Clavio sa Unang Hirit si CHED Chairman Emmanuel Angeles at mukhang ang decision tungkol sa anumang suspension ng college classes ay ipapaubaya sa school administrators.
Nanaykupo! Aba'y walang iniwan sa usapin ng pagtataas ng tuition fee. Palaging eskuwelahan ang nasusunod! Bakit kaya hindi na lang buwagin ang CHED!
Ang personal na pananaw ko po ay dapat sinuspinde na rin nila ang college classes kasi marami pong mga lugar na baha kung saan nakatira o daraan yung ating mga estudyante. At sa tantiya n'yo ba ay lulubayan tayo ng ulan sa maghapon?!
Tama po yung komento, tao rin ang mga college students, hindi sila waterproof at nagkakasakit din sila and their health and safety should be seriously considered by our education authorities. Sa panahon po nang pagragasa ng H1N1, di ba dapat panatilihing mataas ang resistensiya ng ating mga mag-aaral? Naiintindihan kaya 'yan ni Chairman Angeles?!
Maybe it's time for Chairman Emmanuel Angeles of the CHED to get another job.

Mainam po na pakiusapan natin si Senador Mar Roxas na mitingin nang madalas ang Senate Committee on Education. Marami pong dapat pag-usapan sa komite na 'yan katulad po ang isyung ito na may kinalaman sa kaligtasan at kalusugan ng ating mga mag-aaral. Dapat po siguro ay napanood na natin si Senador Roxas sa TV ngayong umagang ito at nagpapahayag ng kanyang pananaw sa usaping ito.
Dapat din pong pag-igihin ni Senador Roxas ang pagpadyak sa usapin ng tuition fee increase moratorium at pagbigay proteskyon sa mga magulang na hirap na hirap na sa pagbabayad ng pataas nang pataas na tuition fee. As no storm signal was hoisted over Metro Manila, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said it was leaving to authorities of colleges and universities whether to suspend classes or not.
Radio reports said those that declared classes suspensions were Philippine Christian University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines and Far Eastern University, all in Manila.
"Dito sa area namin kasi pag umulan nagkakabuhol-buhol ang traffic at bumabaha sa Anonas Street. Gusto namin pangalagaan ang estudyante namin [Our area is flood-prone and traffic builds up when it rains. We want to protect our students]," PUP president Dante Guevarra said in an interview on dzXL radio, in explaining the suspension of classes for the day.
In a telephone call to GMANews.TV, Reinerio Quinto, school registrar of the Central Colleges of the Philippines along Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City, said they were also suspending classes.
"We know that roads to our school are flooded or would be flooded, so our school president decided to call off classes for today," Quinto said.
