LTFRB operatives enforced the suspension order on 75 buses of Jell Transport even as the owner and drivers of the transport franchise showed defiance of the automatic suspension order.
GMA News reporter Steve Dailisan relayed to Chairman Alberto Suansing of the LTFRB their observation that many Jell Transport buses covered by the suspension were still plying the Fairview - Alabang route when they were supposed to be automatically grounded. Suansing ordered his men to the go to the Jell Transport terminal in Camarin, Caloocan City where they served a copy of the suspension order and afterwards, flagged down all buses covered by the suspension and confiscated their license plates.
The suspension on Jell Transport was triggered by an accident on Monday involving one of its buses (TZG-943), driven by Mario Villamar, which ran over a three-year-old girl while causing the amputation of the right arm of her mother, Cristine Quinto, who works as a computer encoder for the Pasig police. Quinto and her daughter were crossing the pedestrian lane on EDSA under the Santolan flyover near Camp Crame when the accident happened.
