The Filipino nation marked the anniversary of martial law, imposed 37 years ago today by the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, with a series of protest actions many of them centered at the Mendiola Bridge where thousands fought the darkness that engulfed Philippine society more than a third of a century ago.
It is an event and a period that will never be forgotten, marring the Filipino psyche and soul with a wound that will never heal, with a legacy of terror that will haunt our nation for as long as it exists.
