Calls for Ninoy's and Cory's only son, Senator Noynoy Aquino, to run for President in 2010 are mounting.
The Heightened Ethics League of the Philippines (HELP) led by a certain Atty. Mario Reyes launched the Sen. Noynoy Aquino III for President Movement earlier today. The movement's slogan is Magaling na Anak Mula sa Dakila at Bayaning mga Magulang.
Among the presidentiables, this new development puts the most pressure on Senator Mar Roxas, President and declared standard bearer for 2010 of the Liberal Party because Noynoy is one of the stalwarts of the Liberal Party. If the Noynoy for President Movement gathers steam, it could pull the rug from under Senator Roxas' feet.
It's high time for Senator Mar to get his act together and pay some attention to things that he's been neglecting as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education, Arts and Culture, such as the issue of unabated tuition fee increases. Don't get me wrong. Senator Mar Roxas has accomplished a lot but unless he confronts pressing problems aggressively such as the bellwether issue of runaway tuition fee increases that adversely affect millions of parents and students of this country, his campaign won't gather enough support to win him the presidency.

This earlier report by Tina Panganiban-Perez shows streamers in Mabalacat, Pampanga proclaiming the Senator Benigno "Noynoy" C. Aquino for President Movement. It also discusses other topics such as the reported preference by NPC leaders for Senator Chiz Escudero over Senator Loren Legarda as the party's standard bearer for 2010.
