The indefatigable Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights, Atty. Leila De Lima, has called on police authorities to ensure proper respect for the rights of SONA rallyists on July 27. She said that restraint on the part of the police is even more advisable since this is the last SONA of the incumbent president and she says that emotions might run high.
This proactive stance on the part of the CHR will hopefully ensure a SONA that allows people to fully express their grievances and vent their sentiments while avoiding needless confrontation and violence between cops and rallyists.
